A) Postgraduate/Research Students

2. Qualifications
Applicants must satisfy the following qualifications and conditions. For more details, be sure to read the Application Guidelines before applying.

  1. Nepali nationals
  2. Under 35 years of age as of April 1st, 2025 (born on or after April 2nd, 1990)
  3. Have completed at least 16 years of education (18 years for doctoral course)
  4. Have secured 70% marks (CGPA 3.1) for Natural Sciences and 60% (CGPA 2.5) for Humanities and Social Sciences in average of plus 2 and above degree.

3. Fields of Study
Applicants should apply for the field of study they majored in at university or its related fields.
  
4. Terms of Scholarship
Two years from April 2025 to March 2027 (extendable for masters/doctoral courses). The term will be one and half year for students who choose October session.
 
5. Language
Applicants must be willing to learn the Japanese language, be interested in Japan and enthusiast about deepening his/her understanding of Japan after arrival.

B) Undergraduate Students

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study at Japanese national universities as Undergraduate Students under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program as follows.
 
1. Definition of “Undergraduate Students”
Those who are enrolled in an undergraduate course at a university, or who are receiving preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects prior to placement at the university.

  4. Have secured 75% marks (CGPA 3.5) for Natural Sciences and 65% (CGPA 2.9) for Humanities and Social Sciences in average in SEE and plus two exams.

5Terms of Scholarship
Five years (seven years for medical/veterinary) from April 2025 to March 2030, including one-year preparatory education in Japanese language and other subjects.
 
6Language 
The university will give all classes in Japanese. Therefore, applicants must be willing to learn Japanese.

C) Specialized Training College Students
